Water and Environment
With a large tradition in hydraulic engineering and hydrological planning, the Water and Environment Area counts on the experience of high quality professionals covering all project stages (planning, project and works) of the integrated water cycle in the framework of sustainability and environment: management and control of water –hydrological planning, aquifers’ studies, river engineering–, water storage –basic & detailed engineering, dam security and management, ponds and tanks–, transport, distribution and use –water supply systems, sewerage, irrigation, catchments, piping, canals, drainages, and pumping stations–, and water quality –water treatment plants, wastewater treatment plants, desalination plants.
Our constant challenge is optimising water as a resource itself as well as its applications, with the most strict criteria regarding sustainability in water use and protection that enable the satisfaction of all water demands, and overcoming conflicts arising between environment and economic activity.
Water engineering:
- Studies: 200 standards definition and emergency plans (dams, inundations...).
- Projects: 1,000 km of piping and supply systems.
- Works supervision: over a dozen big dams.
Water resources planning:
- Studies: definition of e-flows (ecological flows) in over 1,000 projects.
- Plans and projects: river basin management plans covering over 110,000 km2.
- Technical assistance: preparation of over 20,000 files regarding water exploitation.
Irrigation:
- Studies: over 250,000 hectares.
- Master plans, master projects and concession projects: over 122,000 hectares.
- Detailed engineering design: over 36,000 hectares.
- Works supervision: 15,000 hectares.
