Water Infrastructure Engineering Services
Drinking water supplies, flood control, irrigation, and wastewater treatment are based on properly designed and constructed infrastructure systems. DBS&A combines our practical scientific knowledge with standard engineering principles to provide full-scale design and construction services. From conceptual design through construction services, DBS&A assists clients with water infrastructure needs. Based on our expertise in vadose zone processes, DBS&A has become a national leader in the design of managed aquifer recharge (MAR) systems and a pioneer in MAR in the Southwest, in particular.
We developed the first permitted and operating artificial recharge project in New Mexico, which involved extensive coordination and negotiation with state regulators as they interpreted and applied the new statutes. Our specialized expertise in analyzing vadose zone processes that play a vital role in quantifying groundwater recharge rates and understanding infiltration processes has been an important component in the success of this and other MAR projects. DBS&A's experience includes implementing artificial recharge through the vadose zone and using injection wells, trenches, and other mechanisms to penetrate impermeable zones.
