Water Quality Control
To ensure a continuous supply of quality water, water must be treated and monitored on an ongoing basis by experts involved at each stage of the integral water cycle. Water analysis laboratories play a fundamental role in guaranteeing and compliance with requirements stipulated in current legislation. To this end, these laboratories have been supplied with the latest technology and highly-qualified experts, as well as all controls necessary to guarantee respect for the environment. aqualia guarantees the quality of water supplied through more than 700,000 analyses of potable water and 80,000 analyses of waste water a year.
To improve the operation of aqualia laboratories in Spain, the firm has invested large sums and introduced a quality system that sets out defined working guidelines, as well as compliance with very specific scientific parameters. All of this allows the characteristics of water distributed to be monitored on a daily basis, and ensures that water distributed is of good quality.
Furthermore, aqualia has voluntarily committed itself to a plan to secure accreditation for four of its laboratories (in Ávila, Jerez de la Frontera, Oviedo and Lleida), introducing a quality system in accordance with UNE-EN ISO /IEC 17025 that recognises the technical competence of test laboratories.
Ávila has a 210m2 laboratory with eight workrooms (training, sample reception, physical-chemical testing, microbiology, sample preparation, CG/MS, ICP, HPLC and mercury, CI and spectro-photometry), as well as various warehouses and offices. The laboratory can process up to 2,200 samples a year. More information can be found at Web Avila (aqualia)
In Jerez de la Frontera, there is a laboratory that covers 357 m2, of which 190 m2 is made up of analysis rooms. It also has physical-chemical, microbiology, sample preparation, chromatography and ICP-mercury test laboratories. The laboratory can process up to 2,200 samples a year.
The Lleida laboratory is located in the Gardeny science and technology park and has physical-chemical, microbiology, chromatography and ICP-mercury test laboratories. It can process up to 400 samples of surface water and water for human consumption, as well as 1,700 samples of waste water, soil and sludge.
Aqualia’s fourth accredited laboratory is in Oviedo. With a total surface area of 400m2, it has physical-chemical, microbiology, chromatography, ICP-mercury and microscopy test laboratories as well as meeting and training rooms, rooms for sample reception, refrigerators and scales. The laboratory can process 5,000 samples of surface water and water for human consumption and 1,000 samples of waste water a year. More information can be found at Web Oviedo (aqualia).
