Water Quality Management And Hydraulic Engineering Of Bodies Of Water
Planning the best way of protecting bodies of water requires interdisciplinary thinking and a lot of experience in water resource management. The basics and guide-lines for the general concept are to be found in the European Water Framework Directive (WFD). We solve water resource management planning tasks in a holistic manner and consider all facets of water resource and wastewater management. In this way we can capture, represent and evaluate quantitatively and qualitatively the processes taking place in bodies of water as well as in their catchment areas. In order that sustainable solutions can then be prepared.
Calibration of a hydrological model
- City of Bielefeld
- 310 km2 total catchment area in 6 part areas
- Long-term and individual calibrations at 12 water levels
Floodwater retention basin, "Berkelaue" meadows
- City of Billerbeck
- 9,5 km2total catchment area with 1,5 km2 sewer catchment area
- Dry basin (V=7.500 m3) and activation of foreshore retention
Ecological improvements to a river
- Emschergenossenschaft
- River re-landscaping, length of river covered approx. 19 km (Borbecker Mühlenbach river and Berne river)

Determination of areas liable to be flooded
- City of Bielefeld
- 340 km of river, flow statistics from hydrological investigation
- Water level calculations with foreshore retention for different maximum flows
Stormwater retention basin, Mühlenbach
- City of Billerbeck
- 50 ha separate system and 32 ha combined sewerage system
- Wet basin (V=6.000 m3), bed load trap and re-landscaping the stream course
