The Approved Code of Practice for the control of Legionella bacteria in water systems is issued by the Health and Safety Executive. Known as ACOP L8, this gives practical advice on the requirements of the Health and Safety at Work Act 1974 and the Control of Substances Hazardous to Health Act 1999. ACOP L8 requires that regular water system risk assessments and necessary remedial works are carried out to achieve ACOP L8 compliance.
If you provide ACOP L8 water system risk assessments for your clients, you have a duty of care arising from the advice you provide.
