But would you service a car but save on the oil change?.The ‘ out of sight : out of mind’ philosophy, still commonly encountered with regard to environmental building services, is probably no more sensitive than when dealing with systems creating thermal comfort within the Indoor Environment.
Physical, chemical and micro-biological processes may well be internally active and be acutely and chronically degrading the system, with potentially catastrophic effect. Erosion, Corrosion, Pin Holing, Microbiological Induced Corrosion, Scale Deposition and System Blockage, by iron oxide or bio-films, can be occurring right in front of you, but unseen until it’s too late.
