HOW DOES A WHOLE-HOUSE WATER FILTRATION SYSTEM WORK?

A whole-house filtration system, also known as a point of entry system (POE), prevents contaminated water from entering your home. These systems are installed on the main water line to extract contaminants from water before it enters your house. All water passes through the system before its distribution to your fixtures and appliances.

STAGE 1: SEDIMENT FILTRATION

The first stage of sediment filtration removes visible particulate matter from your water. Untreated water from your main-line first passes through a 5-micron filter. A micron is a unit measuring particle size, and these filters come in two forms, nominal and absolute.

• -Nominal filters capture 90% of particles 5 microns or larger
• -Absolute filters capture 95% of everything 5 microns or larger

Once the sediment is removed from your water, the incoming water from your sink and fixtures will be less cloudy and safer to drink. STAGE 2: MINERAL FILTRATION

After the water passes through sediment filters, it is circulated to a copper-zinc mineral filter. This filter removes chlorine, heavy metals, microbes, and bacteria using Kinetic Degradation Fluxion (KDF) media placed within the filter.
