SWT - Version MXP 5.0 - MICROexpert -Activated Sludge Diagnostic Tool
MICROexpert is a Knowledge Model (software tool) to support the diagnosis and search for corrective solutions for activated sludge dysfunctions. In particular, it refers to suspended biomass in traditional aerobic processes for the removal of Carbon or in systems with Nutrient Removal (N, P), in biological reactors of the CSTR ( Continuous Stirred Tank Reactor ) or Plug Flow type .
The main functional objectives of MICROexpert are:
- Timely detection of functional anomalies or existing instability;
- Identification of possible corrective actions to prevent mud sedimentation problems (bulking, foaming, rising, pin point floc, etc.),
- Prevent effluent quality problems.
The MICROexpert Model is based on a holistic approach to diagnosis through the integration (data-fusion) of the different data and qualitative-quantitative information available:
- Microscopic Analysis of Microfauna and identification of the Biotic Index of Sludge ( SBI ), of the Morphological Structure of the Flake and Analysis of the Growth of Filamentous Bacteria ;
- Typical Physical-Chemical Laboratory Analysis ;
- Operating parameters of the plant (OD, T, F / M, etc.);
- Visual Inspections regarding the quality of the effluent and the state of efficiency of the process.
The process control with the support of MICROexpert allows to exploit the peculiar "slow" dynamic of biological evolution of the activated sludge and their characteristic incubation time (days before the effects of the anomalies are highlighted) to prevent possible dysfunctions.
