All laboratories have much in common. Samples are registered and received in the laboratory, tests and resources are assigned; then, following analysis, raw results are entered, and derived results calculated. Results can be compared to expected values and reports published. Finally, laboratory performance metrics can be produced. Most modern commercial LIMS will provide this base level of functionality.

But while laboratories are similar no two laboratories are ever the same. How a commercial LIMS accommodates these differences is key to its success. The Xybion LIMS Configuration Tools allow every system to be quickly tailored to the individual needs of each laboratory without the need to write or change software code. Xybion LIMS Configuration Tools allow you to setup and modify the workflows, screens and menus using a simple “point-and-click” graphical interface. Configuration changes are stored within the database. The underlying software is unchanged by configuration changes. Once approved and released, changes are instantly reflected in both the web and desktop applications. Version control ensures that configuration changes can be reversed if necessary. Since configuration files and software are always kept separate new software releases can be easily deployed.
