Description

EPSS, KCI`s environmental packaging software, manages information, including environmental data, pertaining to consumer products and their packaging components. The software calculates and reports the environmental characteristics (e.g., recycled content, degradability, excess packaging, chemical constituents) of products and their packaging, based on the individual components and the vendor-supplied materials used to formulate the components. The software also calculates the producer responsibility obligations (packaging fees) for countries throughout the world and generates reports suitable for submission to the country organizations.
Using EPSS, managers are able to determine the overall environmental characteristics of products and their packaging: to determine the types of environmental marketing labels that could be applied to products, to help determine the quantity/volume of packaging disposed, and to respond to packaging guidelines: standards, and regulations.

EPSS helps companies manage...

  • Packaging obligation (fee) calculation and reporting
  • Compliance with CEN Packaging Standards (Essential Requirements)
  • Packaging reduction and design-for-environment initiatives
  • Compliance with additional environmental packaging regulations and standards

The basic types of data the are entered into the system include:

  • basic product information
  • packaging components for each product
  • environmental and composition information about packaging materials
