The real power of MassLynx Software lies in its ability to intelligently control an entire Waters mass spectrometry system, from the sample and solvent management components to the mass spectrometer and auxiliary detectors. MassLynx Software can acquire nominal mass, exact mass, MS/MS and exact mass MS/MS data.
Strictly regulated laboratory environments place significant demands on LC/MS and LC/MS/MS systems: to maximize performance while also maintaining the security of data. MassLynx Software features a 21 CFR Part 11 compatible security system built on the latest file encryption, audit log and secure archival/retrieval technology. The security system is flexible, allowing you to tailor and deploy security policies that meet the requirements of your laboratory.
The MassLynx™ Software user interface ensures direct access to frequently used functionality. The MassLynx toolbar, which is displayed alongside the Sample List, provides instant access to instrument status information, sample queue and Application Managers. A single mouse click switches between views of the queue and instrument status. Tabs select general or application-specific tools.
The ability to access basic sample information and system functionality through the MassLynx toolbar allows a novice user to begin operating the system with a minimal learning curve.
MassLynx Application Managers streamline application-specific data processing. Included with MassLynx Software are two powerful Application Managers: OpenLynx™ for qualitative analysis and QuanLynx™ for quantitative analysis.
The OpenLynx Application Manager performs peak detection on your LC/UV, LC/MS, LC/MS/MS or GC/MS data and then carries out specified higher order processing. Processing may be as simple as a subtracting a background spectrum or as sophisticated as predicting the elemental composition of analytes based on exact mass and isotope patterns. Typical uses for OpenLynx Processing include:
- Confirmation of synthetic products
- Estimation of purity and yield of synthetic reactions
- Elemental composition predictions
- Compound identification using user-created or commercial spectral libraries
The QuanLynx Application Manager provides automated quantification of LC/MS or LC/MS/MS data. QuanLynx quickly generates results from acquired data sets permitting accurate quantification and review of results. Peak integration with Waters’ advanced ApexTrack™ peak detection algorithm automates chromatographic peak detection and baseline determination (including tailing, skew, shoulders) and avoids manual optimisation of integration for individual peaks where chromatography is not ideal.
Processed results are presented in the QuanLynx browser. The interactive summary table presents information from the acquisition Sample List plus the related quantitation results. The display can be filtered to display all samples for an analyte or all analytes for a single sample. The chromatogram window permits manual optimization of integration. Results may be recalculated and saved in the portable browser file.
Data integrity is maintained with the QuanLynx audit log including the who, what, when and why of changes. Permission-based changes support GxP and other regulatory requirements. Electronic signature capability, implemented according to local Standard Operating Procedures, is available whenever necessary.
Configurable electronic and printed report formats permit output to paper and to files that may be transferred to other software applications (*.txt, *.CSV, *.XML, etc.). Direct export to LIMS is also available for immediate results transfer and distribution.
MassLynx Application Managers produce portable report files that enable you to share and review data without needing to have the full application installed. Convenient browser utilities are associated with most MassLynx Application Managers. The browser files may be stored in shared directories or sent to users by e-mail. As an example, users may review QuanLynx results, optimizing integration, confirm all sample results and sign-off the data set using only the QuanLynx browser, not the full MassLynx application.
