The software Floris2000 was originally developed by the Laboratory for hydraulic engineering, hydrology and Glaciology of the ETH in Zürich. The firm Scietec developed the user-friendly interface FluxDSS/Designer to facilitate the pre- and post-processing and improved some of the capabilities of the aforementioned code with regard to regulated hydraulic power plants.

The software is a classical Flood-routing tool, whose main capabilities are:

  • Steady state and transient 1D stream simulation
  • Inverse modelling
  • Implementation of regulated hydraulic power stations
  • Sediment transport

Basement

BASEMENT was developed by the Laboratory for hydraulic engineering, hydrology and Glaciology of the ETH in Zürich. BASEMENT main capabilities are:

  • 2D flood simulations
  • steady state / transient flow regimes
  • Sediment transport
  • Dam break

Basement resolves the 2D surface water equations using the finite volumes method. A high-resolution model of the area is necessary for an accurate result.
