Unicorn Geostruct -Â Version IMS -Planning and Keeping Records Software for Optical Networks
In collaboration with its Dutch partner, Geostruct, Unicorn developed a new solution for planning, designing, and construction of optical networks. To handle such issues and processes properly, you need data on telecommunication networks, which is stored in the GIMS. This is a single, centralised data source available to network development and construction workers, which they can use to plan and design networks. With the tools and optimisation algorithms provided by both the client application and the system as a whole, a telecommunication company can effectively support the processes of designing, planning, and construction of new networks or reconstructing the existing infrastructure.
The GIMS solution provides significant support for digitisation of construction processes and transition from paper to digital formats. Its major objectives include improvement and acceleration of collaboration among process roles sharing the same data source. Thus, no data will be lost when exchanging outputs and/or inputs between roles.
The GIMS is a flexible, easily customisable solution which can be used to develop cost-effective designs of FTTx and P2P networks, and to do the following:
- Plan and design FTTx and other networks (COAX, HFC, 5G mobile, VDSL
COAX, VDSL, 5G) - Perform marketing analyses and prepare initial planning studies
- Support detailed network design, engineering, and price calculations
- Compare GPON and P2P designs
- Draw up diagrams and records of (planned and designed) optical infrastructure
- Integrate to internal systems ? mainly technical records systems or facility registers, providing connections to external data sources (RÚIAN, KN)
- A single solution covers all parts of the network design process (CAD, GIS). Therefore, the sharing of information, data, or drawings among engineers and departments is much faster. Plus, it is not necessary to maintain multiple solutions or record-keeping systems for network planning and design.
- Smart features and an intuitive user interface help engineers in their work. They will be able to develop network designs more efficiently, on a greater scale, and in more detail.
- Designers can use a set of powerful algorithms to further modify automatically generated designs and associated calculations (optimum routes, lowest costs).
- A set of specific tools is available to plan city infrastructures, further refining their designs and price calculations.
- The system can be linked to work planning and management in WFMS, providing support for planning, preparation, and execution phases in the field.
- The system also provides Material Management tools; direct use of its integrated catalogue of performances and materials improves the quality of design.
- The solution provides support for design of various network types.
- Quick evaluation of locations at project documentation and request level
- Automation of network design using specialised tools and budgeting
- Automated calculation of aggregated costs
- Easycreation of HLD variants
- Significant acceleration of project documentation (LLD) process through HLD refinement
- Automated generation of pipes, tubes, switchboard arrangements, and network element connections
- Template-based facility generation
- Breakdown into implementation stages and definition of milestones
- Tracking construction deadlines and milestones
- Stage by stage implementation
- Updating material consumption based on their actual use
