  • Tunnels

The geotextile performs two primary functions when used in the construction of tunnels:- 1. Protection of the linear from abrasion and puncture by protrusions from the base surface of the tunnel well. 2.Drainage of water seeping through the rock and sprayed concrete layer. The in-plane oermeability of the geotextile enables the water to flow to a subsurface drainage collection system. where it is directed awa from the tunne

  • Retaining Wall Construction

Problem: Retaining Wall structures are growing ever more necessary as construction is forced to deal with rough terrain, steep slopes, and embankment reinforcement. Changes-in-grade present obstacles for roads and other development requiring flatter, more usable land. Most current types of retaining walls are made of cast-in-place, steel-reinforced concrete walls whose virtue is based entirely upon its internal strength and rigidity. However, these cantilever walls are expensive, vulnerable to cracking from high stress situations, and unattractive in the environment.

  • Soil Stabilization

Problem: Poor load-bearing soils pose a significant problem for transportation and construction needs. Unpaved areas, such as access roads, paths, parking lots, driveways, etc can be highly vulnerable to near-surface shear failure and rutting, especially in moist conditions or areas with higher expected loads. Typically, engineers bridge over weak soils with rigid structures such as thick, reinforced concrete for roads and highways. However, such techniques are prohibitively expensive and inordinately difficult to install. The poorer the quality of the sub-base and the heavier the expected loads, the greater the amount and better the quality of support required.

Geotextiles solutions for retaining structures areas

In infrastructure projects in which space has to be saved or land acquisition minimized, TenCate Geosynthetic soil reinforcement technology has been used in the design and construction of steep slopes or walls. The use of this technology increases the stability of such structures.

  • Water-blocking geotextiles

SAF is the key component for a range of geosynthetic membrane fabric technologies – which can be adapted into a wide range of formats – that are used by many industries requiring water-sealant solutions. Such fabrics are designed to act as a barrier to water and help alleviate the problems of flooding. As a fibrous super absorbent it allows for ease of handling, giving rise to exceptionally substantive and even distribution profiles within final fabric construction. As such, geosynthetic membrane fabrics incorporating this technology offer truly unparalleled levels of waterblocking performance. These fabrics have the ability to separate, filter, reinforce, protect and/or drain, and offer many advantages that are extremely important to demanding civil engineering projects. The fact that they can be supplied in rolls is also a huge benefit when being used on large-scale projects.

  • Geotechnical Applications

Pore pressure variability and control is one of the most significant aspects of Geotechnical Engineering practice related to slope stability, underground openings, foundation of heavy structures, and water retention facilities. Pore pressure effects are most often controlled by natural small-scale hydrogeologic details. Characterization and management of pore pressures requires closely-arrayed repeated measurements to determine the effects of these details for design of appropriate mitigation measures, for performance monitoring and control of the selected mitigation measure. • Water Containment

Polymeric liners are prone to puncture by inclusions within the underlying soil. Thick, non-woven geotextile can be used to give protection to liners during installation. Often the upper slopes are exposed to damage and it is a good practice to cover these areas with a depth of soil which will sustain vegetation. Alternatively, a stone or concrete substance can be used to achieve a hard landscaped appearance. Our product will protect the liner from puncture whilst also providing a degree of slope stability.

  • Data analysis and visualization tools for geophysical analysis

EVS, MVS, and EnterVol excel in their ability to handle analysis and visualization of geophysical data. For example, 3D resistivity can be analyzed from 2D ground arrays and airborne surveys. Electrical resistivity surveys offer the ability to inexpensively collect vast quantities of three-dimensional subsurface data. Environmental sciences, mining, archaeology and many other disciplines can benefit from these measurement techniques. However, their large irregular datasets offer significant challenges related to analysis and visualization. C Tech’s EVS , MVS, and EnterVol excel in their ability to address these complex issues.
