Erosion & sediment control solutions for soil remediation

by Erosion Control Forum     based in Bend, OREGON (USA)

REMEDIAL ACTION PRACTICES include the requirements to develop erosion and sedimentation control plans, specifying plan content and soil conservation measures to keep sediment–laden mud from washing into storm sewers and watersheds where debris can clog creek channels and choke off aquatic life. Sediment control BMPs combine structural and non–structural measures used to avoid or minimize pollutants accumulated by environmental hazards across impervious surfaces.

SONARtrac - Dredging - Hopper Vessels

by CiDRA     based in Wallingford, CONNECTICUT (USA)

Soil density, hardness, lithology, and sediment particle size distribution can create slurry of variable makeup and density. At a constant pump speed, the slurry will have a variable flow velocity, which is undesirable and potentially dangerous. If the velocity is too low, there is a risk of sand outs in the pipeline. If the velocity is too high, the pump will wear and be inefficient. Traditional velocity flow meters with wetted parts are prone to wear, causing measurement inaccuracies, and require frequent, costly replacements. In addition, the presence of entrained gases may disturb the readings of traditional flowmeters and cause slurry density measurements to be inaccurate.

Continuous Instream Monitoring

by FTS     based in Victoria, BRITISH COLUMBIA (CANADA)

Turbidity in natural waters is recognized as an important indicator of its environmental health, and because it's a good surrogate for suspended sediment, monitoring turbidity has always been the "holy grail" for hydrologists. But because of earlier technology, "turbidity" has traditionally been a "bad word". The DTS-12 turbidity sensor is the first sensor to make turbidity monitoring practical, and no longer difficult, inaccurate, expensive, or labor-intensive. Turbidity is the cloudiness or murkiness of water caused by suspended organic or inorganic materials. Turbidity in natural waters is recognized as an important indicator of its environmental health.

Water Data Management Solution for Alpine Monitoring

by KISTERS group     based in Aachen, GERMANY

KISTERS has developed a specific version of WISKI with unique benefits for those monitoring Alpine Regions. Some of its advanced features include specialized calculations for measuring precipitation, snow, sediment transport and water balances in catchments.

Drinking water solutions for the coagulation optimization

by Real Tech Inc.     based in Whitby, ONTARIO (CANADA)

Problem: Drinking water plants that use surface water or ground water under the influence of surface water are susceptible to high levels of organic matter in the raw water. Reduction of organic matter through coagulation/sedimentation and filtration is important to lower the potential for disinfection by-product formation (DBP) and limit operational problems. In addition, organics in water consume the polymers used for the coagulation process, which reduces the efficiency of the treatment. Therefore, optimization of the polymer dosing heavily depends on the concentration of organics.

Disinfection solutions for water treatment industry

by Calgon Carbon Corporation     based in Pittsburgh, PENNSYLVANIA (USA)

Ballast Water Solutions. Ship ballasts often carry aquatic organisms that can cause a significant problem when transported from one body of water to another. In fact, the invasion of non-native species via ballast water has been described by maritime and environmental authorities as `one of the greatest threats to the world`s waterways.`

Fat, Oil and Grease treatment

by Ecochemicals UAB     based in Kaunas, LITHUANIA

Industrial and municipal waste contaminated with fat – a frequent problem for companies maintaining wastewater network infrastructure and municipal wastewater treatment facilities. We recommend the use of GREASOLUX fat dissolvent cartridges to avoid the problems of pipeline chocking, equipment damage, offensive odors, formation of filamentous bacteria, poor wastewater treatment results, poor sedimental properties of activated sludge. GREASOLUX – is a cartridge that slowly dissolves in water, enriched with special fat dissolvent microorganisms and enzymes. GREASOLUX – is an especially efficient product for low cost solutions to problems caused by fat: only few strategically placed cartridges will remove or minimize the problems caused by fat.

Several waste gas streams: Short, high concentration peaks and a constant |medium concentration

by Chemisch Thermische Prozesstechnik GmbH / CTP Air Pollution Control     based in Graz, AUSTRIA

Concentration peaks and liquid waste posed a tough challenge on the air pollution control system. With the CTP solution, this waste is not only disposed of but also reduces the burner energy considerably.

WEDA Underwater cleaning robots in lagoons and large fountains

by Weda AB     based in Södertälje, SWEDEN

The new Weda YT-5000 with a five (5) meter wide suction nozzler speeds up the cleaning process considerably. Estimated cleaning speed is up to 3000 sq. meters/hour. The cleaner removes efficiently bottom sedimentation (sand, algae etc.) from the bottom surface and pumps it to a selected discharge point (filter, waste etc).

Erosion Control & Sediment Control

by Nilex     based in Edmonton, ALBERTA (CANADA)

Nilex’s engineered erosion control and sediment control products reduce the damaging effects of rainfall, wind and wave action on soil structures while replacing or reducing the dependency on scarce natural resources.

Erosion Control

Geosynthetic erosion control products are designed to reduce damaging effects of rainfall, run-off, and wave and wind action on soil structures by redirecting water flow or acting as a barrier between the soil surface and water.

Nilex Erosion Control systems include: Erosion Control Blankets (ECBs); Turf Reinforcement Mats(TRMs); Gabion systems; Concrete Revetment and Mattresses; and Cellular Confinementsystems.

Sediment Control

Properly implemented sediment control practices can result in minimal soil loss, little damage to
off-site receiving channels, enhanced project aesthetics and fewer complaints from regulators and the public.

Nilex Sediment Control systems include: GeoRidge Bio; Silt Fence; Turbidity Curtains;SedimentSTOP and Wattles; and Water Inflated Dams.

Erosion & sediment control solutions for water remediation

by Erosion Control Forum     based in Bend, OREGON (USA)

`Water should never be treated as a nonrenewable resource; it should always be treated with the respect it deserves as the foundation of life on the planet.` Most water on earth is in a continuous cycle between water bodies, land and the atmosphere. An important component of smart water solutions is the cycling of water treatment solutions using processes by which water enters, moves through and exits soil are essential for sustaining plants and soil organisms, transporting nutrients and recharging surface and ground water supplies. Water moving in soil also impacts the behavior and transport of soil solutes and their effect on water quality.

With the ability to analyse a wide range of materials, our instruments provide lab-quality soil/sediment chemistry in seconds. Lead, arsenic, cadmium, chromium, and other toxic metals contaminate sites of former industrial and agricultural activity around the world. Whatever the reasons for these occurrences, these pollutants cannot be ignored – particularly as environmental consciousness and regulatory initiatives grow.

Remote monitoring stations

by FTS     based in Victoria, BRITISH COLUMBIA (CANADA)

The Water Survey of Canada, a division of Environment Canada, is a federal government agency responsible for collection, interpretation and dissemination of water source data and information. As a division of Environment Canada, the Water Survey of Canada (WSC) covers a vast range of topographical environs from Arctic Canada to the US border with elevations varying from sea level to over 13,000 feet (4,000 metres). An estimated 7% of the world’s renewable water supplies are found in Canada. Canada’s hydrology is incredibly diverse thanks to a wide range of bio-physical ecozones. WSC operates in partnership with all of the Canadian provinces, territories and other agencies, operating over 2,500 active hydrometric gauges across the country. The hydrologic and socioeconomic diversity found in Canada makes water resource management incredibly challenging.
