ENV Surveys Ltd is a specialist asbestos surveying company who offer UKAS accredited services. We also provide Asbestos Awareness Training in full accordance with Regulation 10 of the Control of Asbestos Regulations (CAR) 2012. Asbestos awareness training must be carried out by someone who is competent to do so, who has had adequate personal practical experience and theoretical knowledge of works being carried out. As industry experts we have a wealth of knowledge, a library of photographs, numerous real life examples, and provide useful and practical advice based on experience as part of the training course that we deliver.

We offer a classroom based modular course to make the best use of your time and deliver training to meet your needs. In addition we will hold a database that we will use to remind you when refresher training is required.
There is 2 hour core module that covers the general requirements set out in regulation 10 of the Control of Asbestos Regulations 2012 and includes.
• Properties of asbestos
• Types of asbestos
• Effects on health
• Uses of asbestos
• Likely occurrence of asbestos
• Avoiding the risk
• Emergency procedures
This will meet the needs of all staff members who disturb the fabric of the building and are at risk of disturbing asbestos; typical examples of trades requiring asbestos awareness training are:
- General maintenance staff
- Electricians
- Plumbers
- Gas fitters
- Painters and decorators
- Joiners
- Plasterers
- Demolition workers
- Construction workers
- Roofers
- Heating and ventilation engineers
- Fire / burglar alarm installers
- Computer installers
- Shop fitters
- Architects, building surveyors and other such professionals
In addition we offer three optional modules that vary in length from 30 minutes to 60 minutes.
Background – this is an introduction mainly focusing on the origins of asbestos, historic and global use and is only for information purposes.
Legislation (aimed at managers and supervisors) – this gives you a brief overview of the law that relates to the management of asbestos and helps you understand when you will not need to use a licensed asbestos removal contractor.
Management Plans (aimed at ‘duty holders’) – this gives you a brief overview of regulation 4 of the control of asbestos regulations then a practical session when we will start to create your management plan. Ideally you’ll need to bring your asbestos register with you.
You can choose one of the above additional modules added to the core module at no additional cost; if you require more than one additional module this could be arranged but there would be an additional charge.
Non-licensable work
(for staff who work on asbestos) – this is a practical session that will focus on non-licensable asbestos removal task, and will be designed to be specific to your needs. Please contact us to discuss your requirements and we can let you know the costs and length a suitable course. This course will include the core asbestos awareness training module and will last at least 4 hours.
We can also offer bespoke training around the requirements of your internal policy and procedures, as well other health and safety training courses, audits and management systems.
Employers Duty
You have a duty as an employer to ensure that adequate information, instruction and training is provided to all employees who have the potential to be exposed to asbestos during the course of their work. Particularly workers in the maintenance, refurbishment, demolition, and allied trades.
You have a duty as someone who influences how work is carried out to undertake asbestos awareness training.
