Basic Botany for Wetland Assessment

SHARE

If you are relatively new to working in wetland plant identification, this class will get you up to speed in just a few weeks. It is highly recommended that you take this class before you undertake our Certified Botanist program. This class will cover the basic botanical concepts you need to know to work the field guides and get you ready for field identification. We will not be going over region specific wetland species in this program. Rather, this class is meant as a national overview of botanical techniques.

There are project assignments that require the use of a field guide. We will be using Newcomb’s Wildflower Guide in this class. The field guide is not included in the tuition and can be obtained from just about any bookstore or online from Amazon, Barnes & Noble, etc. Newcombs is mainly for northeastern US use, however, the concepts presented in it have nationwide applicability. Even if you are working in California the techniques found in Newcombs will work for you.

Internet Botany
You have the option to use local flora, however, weather and timing can often be an issue. By using our special Internet Botany approach you can complete the class without the need to go into the field.

Time Limits
The workshop is being offered in an on-demand format. You can log in any time and watch the presentations and work on the assignments. There is not a specific time you need to start the class, and it is available anytime day or night. The class will remain active in your account for 120 days after your start the class.
