Fire Extinguisher Level 2
This course is designed to train personnel in identifying, controlling and preventing fires in the workplace. Identifying the type of fire that has occurred enables workers to determine the most effective means of controlling and extinguishing it. Having the proper firefighting equipment and the skill to implement correct operations and procedures enables personnel to control and extinguish a fire. Understanding the sources and causes of fires is necessary for preventing them.
The objectives for this course are to:
- Instruct students in proper extinguisher operation and maintenance techniques
- Give practical experience in controlled-fire scenarios using a 20-pound dry-chemical extinguisher to extinguish Class B or Class C fires
An exam will be given covering the information presented during the knowledge segment and exercises, and students must achieve a grade of 70% to pass.
Prerequisite: Fire Watch Level 1
Duration: 4 hours
Participation: Minimum 8; maximum dependent upon classroom space
Certifications: HSE certificate
Expiry: 3 years
