OSHA Hazard Communication Training Aligned with GHS
Our OSHA Hazard Communication Training Aligned with GHS course is intended for workers who are exposed to hazardous chemicals at the workplace, as well as workers involved in the shipment, importation, and manufacture of hazardous materials. As part of "Employee`s Right to Know," all employees who may be exposed to hazardous chemicals must receive Hazard Communication Training within 30 days of their hire date. In many states, this training must be repeated on an annual basis. This course provides students with training on the changes implemented to the HAZCOM Standard brought about by the Globally Harmonized System (GHS) of Classification and Labeling of Chemicals, in accordance with OSHA`s 2012 HAZCOM Standard.

The objectives of this training are to training students on the 1994 Hazard Communication Standard as well as introduce students to the changes to OSHA`s Hazard Communications Standard regarding the classification of chemicals, labeling, and Safety Data Sheets as the Standard is brought into alignment with the Globally Harmonized System. Training on new rules for labeling and Safety Data Sheets was to be completed by December 1, 2013.
Learning ObjectivesUpon completion of this training, the student will be able to:
- Understand the requirements of the 1994 Hazard Communication Standard;
- Know how to recognize chemical hazards in the workplace using labels and markings;
- Understand basic toxicology principals;
- Describe basic physical and chemical properties of hazardous substances;
- Understand general safety hazards as they apply to hazard communication;
- Describe the purpose of changes to the Hazard Communication Standard;
- Discuss the benefits of bringing the Standard into alignment with the GHS;
- Identify pictograms used by the GHS;
- Discern between an MSDS and SDS; and
- Identify hazards using the new labels and SDS.
