Personal Protective Equipment Training
From Lead Training
This course covers the use, maintenance, sanitation and general work practices for personal protective equipment, including equipment for eyes, face, head, and extremities, protective clothing, respiratory devices, and protective shields and barriers. Students will become familiar with when protective equipment may be required by reason of hazards of processes or environment, chemical hazards, radiological hazards, or mechanical irritants encountered in a manner capable of causing injury or impairment in the function of any part of the body through absorption, inhalation or physical contact. An overview of the hazard assessment provided by the employer identifying workplace hazards will also be covered, if available.

Expected Outcomes
Upon completion the students will be able to identify general PPE requirements, identify at least one measure which can be taken to reduce or eliminate the danger for a given potential injury condition at the worksite, identify potential job hazards for which an assessment should be made before the job begins, identify the three elements that are essential to safe job performance, and how to properly don, doff, adjust, wear and dispose of PPE.
Topics Covered
When personal protective equipment is necessary, how to identify what type of personal protective equipment is necessary, how to properly don, doff, adjust and wear the personal protective equipment, limitations of the equipment, and the proper care, maintenance and disposal of equipment.
Implementation Mechanism
Training shall consist of a combination of formal instruction (e.g., lecture, discussion, Video presentation written material), practical training (demonstrations performed by the trainer and practical exercises performed by the trainee), and evaluation of the student’s performance
