ROV High Pressure Hydraulics Online Training Course
The MTCS High Pressure Hydraulics online training course is designed to provide ROV technicians and engineers with a fundamental knowledge of ROV hydraulic systems. The course is suitable for a range of ROV activities, particularly in cross training personnel with electrical and electronic disciplines who need to multi-skill. If you would like to renew your Certificate of Competence in ROV Hydraulic Systems then please contact MTCS at enquiries@mtcs.info
The course covers both general hydraulic theory, high pressure hydraulic safety and can be applied to many ROV hydraulic systems. It provides an industry-specific primer for personnel who are familiar with more general hydraulic principles.
The course is also suitable for personnel who are involved with the operation and maintenance of ROV Launch and Recovery (LARS) systems including Tether Management Systems (TMS).
The course is delivered digitally via MTCS Online, and in 2 stages:
Stage 1 is delivered as an e-learning module and covers theoretical concepts
Stage 2 consists of a booklet that requires candidates to research their own systems, procedures and work methods.
The course is ideal for ROV technicians and engineers who have little or no experience in hydraulic systems, and are required to enhance such as part of their career progression.
The course also assists in multi-skilling technicians and engineers who are more electrically biased.
The course includes the following modules:
Stage 1
- Hydraulic Theory
- Hydraulic Components
- Safety of Personnel
- System Components and symbols
- Contamination Control
Stage 2
- Hydraulic Fluids
- Hydraulic Pumps
- Actuators
- Pressure Control Valves
- Directional Valves
- Flow Control and Non-return Valves
- Servo Valves
- Reservoirs, Compensators and Accumulators
- Conductors and Seals
- Contamination Control
- Hydraulic Filters
- Fault Finding and Maintenance
- Symbols
Assessment of Knowledge is conducted by a combination of Multiple Choice and short written answers.
Each module includes a range of short written assignments that requires the candidate to reflect on their own systems, work methods and procedures. This forms an important part of the candidates learning experience and ensures the training remains contextual.
Each module also includes an end of unit ‘Self-Assessment’ that provides the candidate with an opportunity to test themselves on the specific subject matter. All ‘Self-Assessment’ modules must be successfully completed before taking the final Online Assessment of Knowledge.
On successfully completing the final assessment of knowledge candidates will receive a certificate confirming ‘Successful Assessment of Knowledge’.
The online course contains a written assessment that can be completed offshore or in a suitably equipped workshop. The written assessment requires you to complete some written assignments after researching the hydraulics associated with your own systems.
On completion of the Practical Assessment candidates may upload specific evidence of the activity to their MTCS Online account for final verification by MTCS.
