The Executive Program in Safety Management was introduced in 2002 and has been completed by over 700 safety professionals.  Since the original content of the program was delivered, safety management thinking has evolved with many new concepts influencing the way safety is now being delivered.  Recognizing these great strides in safety management, ASSE is now featuring the Executive Program with:

Learning Objectives

Successful completion of the ASSE Executive Program in Safety Management will further your ability to:

  • Manage safety applying the methods established by recognized contemporary management innovators, behavioral scientists and great leaders in safety
  • Add another dimension to OSH management in your organization by applying strategy and techniques focused on risk, business and the reality of human behavior
  • Exhibit the unique traits of successful leaders to inspire your workforce in their safety performance
  • Strengthen the connection with your senior leaders
  • Introduce new concepts in OSH management and leadership to your workforce

Completion Requirements: The Certificate is awarded after earning a total of 5 CEUs (50 classroom or virtual education hours) for completing these three components within two years:

Electives Totaling 1.4 CEUs:

The electives needed to complete the CEU requirement for the Executive Program in Safety Management can be earned at the following ASSE events.

  • Certification Preparation Workshops offered throughout the year and various locations. Preparation is offered for ASP, CSP, CHST, OHST and a one-day math review seminar is also available.
  • SeminarFest held at the beginning of each year is a program offering more than 90 seminars over a weeklong period.
  • Safety Symposia are offered several times throughout the year.
  • Pre and Post Professional Development Conference Seminars are held every June.
  • Safety topic Webinars are offered monthly.

Education delivered by other organizations

Eligibility

You are eligible for this program if you satisfy one of the following criteria

  • Completion of the ASSE Certificate in Safety Management
  • CSP, CHMM, ARM, OHST, CHST, CIH or CSHM certification
  • Professional Member of ASSE
  • Baccalaureate degree plus five years experience in OSH
  • Professional engineer working in the OSH field

Previous Participants of the Executive Program

If you started completing the requirements for the Executive Program prior to November 1, 2016, the CEUs earned for the Executive Program certificate will still be applicable.  You may apply for the Certificate if you:

  • Completed the original three required seminars (4.9 CEUs) of the Executive Program and have at least one hour (.1 CEU) of eligible electives
  • Have at least 14 hours (1.4 CEU) of eligible electives and complete the new required seminars within a 5-year period of time
  • Completed one or more of the Executive Program seminars offered prior to November 1, 2016, and complete any combination of the new seminars or electives that bring your total CEUs to 5.0 or 50 hours.
