Training
One of SP Holding’s main focus areas is the development and training of our employees. To this end, our operators are supported with nationally recognised training for tasks such as CCTV operations, hazardous/confined space working, etc. This training is supported with a robust induction programme for all employees together with a full skills and training matrix maintained on a regular basis to ensure all training is up to date and relevant to the individual.
A considerable amount of our business is undertaken in the highly regulated area of waste management with many statutory bodies involved including the Environment Agency, Local Environmental Health Officers and VOSA, to name but a few. Due to this we have to maintain a highly developed sense of change to any relevant legislation and ensure all operatives are aware and trained in any of these to the standards required both of ourselves and our customers.
At present we`re undertaking a full development programme for our drivers. This is being undertaken in conjunction with The Shrewsbury College of Arts and Technology (SCAT) and will lead to a nationally recognised NVQ qualification in road haulage. This programme is being undertaken by a number of large nationally recognised transport companies and we have shown our commitment to be at the forefront of this type of employee training and improvement.
The formal training is supported by an ongoing `Tool Box Talk` programme that covers a wide range of subjects that both the Company and our customers, including Severn Trent Water, wish to either reinforce or change existing processes and procedures.
