Training and Development

Dawnus aims to provide career employment so that we can train and develop our teams to perform their duties to the highest standard. We have an established programme of employing and training trade apprentices, as well as trainees in engineering, surveying, and site management. As we aim to provide career employment, training and development provides us with the long-term benefits of a highly skilled and loyal workforce who understand the company’s vision, values, and approach. We believe that the commitment of our employees is shown by our low staff turnover.


We employ a number of trade apprentices, such as carpenters and bricklayers, and we work closely with the Construction Industry Training Board. The majority of these apprentices are school leavers embarking on their first employment; we work closely with CITB Training Officers to offer apprentices the best possible start in the industry and opportunities for training and development.

The scheme has been highly successful, and many of the apprentices have become fully qualified and have been retained by the company as tradesmen. 

Work Experience

We also regularly provide work experience placements and student summer placements that provide an opportunity for young people to gain an introduction to and experience of the construction industry.

Dawnus have also visited schools, colleges, local job and careers fairs, and established contacts with local universities in order to increase students’ knowledge and awareness of our activities and the construction industry, identify young people who have an interest in working in construction, and to provide opportunities for work experience.

CSCS Scheme

Over 99% of our site employees hold CSCS/CPCS cards, and we have been awarded a Platinum Certificate of Commitment by the CITB for our performance on the scheme.
