Waste Training

Who should attend waste training?

Employees who complete any of the following activities need waste training:

• Identify and characterize wastes
• Select, prepare, label or load waste containers
• Prepare or sign waste manifests or shipping papers
• Inspect waste containers
• Operate processes that generate waste
• Respond to releases of waste materials or act as an emergency coordinator
• Load or transport waste

What topics are included in RCRA Training?

Topics covered include:

• Waste characterization
• Waste handling
• Land disposal restrictions
• Shipping requirements
• Recordkeeping

How often do employees need RCRA training?

The EPA requires that employees of large quantity generators who handle hazardous waste receive training at least once per year.
