Every month, AXXONLAB holds workshops to train technicians and all other interested persons in the methods used to analyze and detect the presence of asbestos and mold implemented by the IRRST (Robert-Sauvé Institute for Labor Health and Safety.)
243- 1 Fiber counts in air sample analyses
The participants are shown the principles of the method and its domain of application. They will become familiar with the precision and quality control techniques, the equipment used, and the analysis protocol. Practical exercises will be provided so the trainees can get experience in counting methods, microscope calibration, and the methods of calculating quantity and density. At the end of the workshop they will be shown how to produce the analysis report.
244-2 Characterization and quantification of asbestos in dust and on materials
This workshop includes a presentation of the asbestos industry, asbestos mining, outdoor concentrations, the dangers of exposure in private and public buildings, and the maximum limits allowed in the workplace. The trainees will then have the opportunity to learn and practice the methods for measurement, fiber analyses, and evaluation of the quantity of fibers in the air.
Each workshop lasts a few days and can be spread over several dates. Training is done in French and in English. Any interested person may participate in a workshop, but the number of participants per workshop is limited to allow for optimal participation and good interaction of the participants. A group price is offered for businesses wishing to organize a workshop for their employees. AxxonLab also has the microscopes and other accessories used in training available for a supplement.
