Welcome to PSA 10.820 Modular Interface General Overview Video PSA 10.820 Modular Interface High Performance Liquid Chromatography is an easy to use system designed for straightforward coupling to PSA Millennium Merlin or Millennium Excalibur instrument and the PSA 20.410 Auto Sampler. It is used for liquid chromatography speciation studies for mercury, arsenic, selenium and antimony as well as online digestion using UV or heat based post- column reactions In conjunction with the Atomic Fluorescence Spectrometry measurement system, the Modular Interface provides excellent sensitivity and selectivity. In addition to the impressive detection performance, the automated approach decreases analysis time, minimises sample pretreatment and potential for handling errors. Next slide shows four different modules. The 10.820 can be operated in different modes depending on the model and application. It's used for extensive range of applications for PSA, Millennium Merlin and Millennium Excalibur instruments. The modular interface is highly configurable in cooperating up to five different modules. High performance Liquid chromatography pump that can be isocratic or binary gradient, 6 port sample injection valve, UV digestion coil, heated digestion coil and cooling. Next slide shows example of schematic diagram of HPLC system for the speciation of arsenic. When the sample is to be analysed, the auto sampler moves to selected sample vial position and the sample is loaded into a loop of the six port sample injection valve. The sample is then injected into a mobile phase carrier stream which is propelled by the HPLC pump. This passes through the column where the species are separated. Once the species elute from the column, they are mixed with a stream of oxidant and reductant. They are swept from the gas liquid separator in a stream of argon through Perma-Pure drier system to the detector. The detector is highly sensitive, working on the principles of fluorescence. The sample vapour absorbs the light and then fluoresces at its characteristic wavelength. A Photo Multiplier tube detects florescence from the sample. This data is then transmitted to the computer using USB communication. SAMs Plus software is used to control the Millennium systems and the speciation module. Typical chromatogram obtained for four Arsenic species is shown on the next slide. The Modular Interface can also be used for the online digestion applications using UV photolysis for total determination of element of interest. Use of a UV oxidation system allows samples to be analysed without any sample pre treatment. Next slide shows an example of schematic diagram of the HPLC system for the Online digestion for arsenic application. PSA 10820 Modular interface can be used for wide range of applications.
