Clinisys (US) What is the Biggest Challenge in Lab Informatics Today? - Clinisys Customer Summit - Video

SHARE

After discussing the laboratory of the future and the convergence of environmental and clinical data for human health and wellness, Clinisys interviewed Dr. John Sinard, Vice Chair and Director of Clinical Operations in Pathology at Yale University School of Medicine, to hear his perspective on the biggest challenge in laboratory informatics. There seems to be growing recognition of the fact that there is a lot more value in the laboratory data than we are currently getting out of it. Laboratory data has greater potential outside of the domains we all currently think in. In the US, we use laboratory data for individual patient care, but not necessarily for public health or population health. Data standards for laboratory informatics have not penetrated as deeply as we all would like to think. Even a common LOINC code at two different healthcare institutions does not mean that the test is performed in the same way and therefore the results are not directly comparable or trendable. Dr. Sinard was filmed onsite at the Clinisys Customer Summit, held March 13 to 16, 2023 in Frisco, Texas, where Clinisys leaders, keynote speakers, and industry experts discussed the convergence of laboratory informatics across clinical and environmental disciplines and projected the pathways necessary toward the lab of the future.
