Coal dust explosion doors - Video

The Cement industry has a long history with coal dust explosions between their mills, filters and silos. Consequently a range of reclosing explosion doors was developed to take the initial kick out of the explosion near the Mill (referred to as Vent 1) Subsequent vents especially Explosion Diverters are used further up the dust to slow down the explosion velocity and minimise the effects of pressure piling and flame jet ignition on the associated filters. These filters will have their own reclosing explosion doors to protect the filter itself. Reclosing doors are also used on the silos to prevent ingress of air into the vented vessel to support subsequent fire and explosion after the vented event and allow post inerting the be carried out.
