Construction Excellence at Geismar AO4 - Shell ProjectVantage Video

When working on a large scale project on site it is amazing what can be achieved if everyone has the same information at their fingertips all the time. At Geismar’s Tiger AO4 project at Geismar in the US, this is no longer a futuristic aspiration but a reality with the introduction of ProjectVantage, which brings together a suite of IT applications that enable our construction processes. These components are integrated and support data consistency across suppliers and engineering disciplines. Tiger AO4 pioneered an industry first integration between the software eco-system vendors for Materials Management, Construction Management and Commissioning and Start-up activities. Doing so, they overcame technical challenges to mature a digital solution for the Advanced Work Packaging and Work Face planning processes which can be replicated across Shell and its partners. The Tiger AO4 team use ProjectVantage as a visual interface and single data source that replaces cumbersome spreadsheets and paper-based work packs, making it easier for planners to spot constraints and remove them. Automation of manual tasks has boosted planners’ productivity. The data-centric method and the growing use of mobile devices are helping to increase collaboration. ProjectVantage has heralded a new way of working at the Geismar plant, introducing an approach that aligns construction with the data-centric working methodology that other industries use to analyse data, identify trends and solve issues.
