From Flowsheet to Tensor Flow - Process Simulation at its Best
Energiewende and Digitalisation are the buzz words of today's power industry, and the challenges that are resulting from these megatrends are indeed gigantic. In the transition period from traditional fossil fuels to renewable energy as the principal energy source, fuel efficiency and operating flexibility will be the key factors for the economic success of gas-fired or hybrid power plants and industrial cogeneration facilities. Carbon taxes are very likely to become a powerful means of political guidance, and the volatility of renewable power generation will force all other market participants to react quickly and reliably to mitigate excessive imbalances that could harm customers and industrial processes.
This webinar recording provides an introduction to the basic concepts of thermodynamic process simulation and explains the necessity of heat balance analysis for conceptual design, off-design analysis and performance monitoring applications to maximize fuel efficiency. The application of a plant model for data validation and reconciliation to generate a technically sound and consistent data set for process monitoring and review of the plant instruments will also be covered.
While this simulation technology has been on the market since more than thirty years, the speakers point out its importance for the success of the current digitalisation efforts such as Big Data analysis and the application of artificial intelligence. With its distributed calculation technology that allows to speed up the heat balance analysis by orders of magnitude and the development of superfast surrogate models with comparable accuracy, ENEXSA has paved the way to new advanced applications in the design of power plants, equipment diagnostics, process visualization, and operational optimization.
