Multi-Frequency GPR Systems: Data Comparison (Ground Penetrating Radar) - Video
A recent trend in ground penetrating radar is the emergence of multi-frequency systems. These units have 2 or more GPR antenna on board which provides several benefits: 1. The systems can scan at different depths. 2. The higher frequency antenna will produce higher resolution. In this video, I show you how a 250 MHz antenna was able to identify a target that the 700 MHz antenna couldn't because the target was buried too deep for the higher frequency. I also show how the 700 MHz antenna was able to distinguish between multiple targets at shallow depths where the 250 MHz only recorded one reflection. These benefits can be attained with any system that has multiple antennae that can be swapped in and out and all users should attempt to accumulate antenna with different frequencies so you can use the right tool for the right job. BUT, one other benefit to multi-frequency systems is: 3.That it reduces data collection times since 2 or more antenna are collecting at the same time. This helps reduce some of the guesswork and experimentation that is sometimes need with systems where you have to swap out antenna.
