  • High performance separation system for caustic treating industry

    The key aspects of a caustic treating system pertain to the degree of contact between the caustic and hydrocarbon to facilitate the mass transfer. Increasing the specific surface area of contact in a two phase system necessarily creates a tight emulsion. The product hydrocarbon often contains entrained caustic, which is not easily recovered by a simple water wash followed by a separator drum. The spent caustic is often regenerated with sour-naphtha stream that is used to extract the disulfide oils into the hydrocarbon phase.

    pH/ORP Sensors for Metallurigical Applications

    Importance of pH Measurement - Hydrometallurgical concentrating and refining applications require pH/ORP sensors to withstand aggressive environments while maintaining accurate measurement. Processes such as cyanide leaching (e.g gold) and solvent extraction (e.g. copper, nickel, zinc) require pH and ORP to be at very specific values to yield the desired chemical species. pH may need to be controlled as precisely as ±0.05 for some processes. Even where this level of precision is needed, process environments are typically extremely aggressive to the sensor.
