Fabric Buildings for Military Shelter Solutions - Defense
Armed Forces need structures they can rely on, no matter the operating conditions. Legacy delivers buildings custom-designed to mat the exact specifications of our military customers.
Tents serve a purpose, but their utility is limited. The military approval process for traditional steel and brick-and-mortar construction is notoriously cumbersome. Our permanent fabric structures bridge the gap with solutions that fill a wide range of needs for every branch of the military, anywhere in the world–quickly. You get state-of-the-art engineering and all the features you want, with a lot less hassle. Our crews even travel the world to install our structures on bases.
The buildings themselves are both relocatable and expandable, if needed.
Shelter is essential for troops and equipment. You need it now. For expeditionary ops, it’s not practical or safe to delay erecting vital structures. On base, you can wait a long time for your project to make it through the MILCON approval process–or you can take action by choosing a Legacy ExxoTec(™) fabric building.
Even though they are long-lasting permanent structures, our buildings qualify as relocatable (semi-permanent) under the DLA’s Tailored Logistics Support Program. So you can purchase directly from us that way or through the standard contracting process. This is an ideal solution.
We can typically design, manufacture, and install your building within six months to a year. And our buildings are effortlessly assembled by our expert installation team, who handle everything onsite for you.
VersatilityFrom overhead sunshades to fully enclosed and lined buildings, our high-quality fabric structures can stand alone or be attached to an existing brick-and-mortar building. They are ideally suited for:
- Hangars for any size of aircraft
- Vehicle storage and maintenance facilities
- Large area maintenance shelters (LAMS)
- Recreation and fitness centers
- Coverage for amphibious craft
- Dining facilities
- Retail stores
- Tool sheds
- Equipment storage
- Warehouses
- Troop billeting and command posts
- Guard shacks
Armed Forces personnel, deployed or here at home, deserve the best. Our buildings are efficiently utilitarian, but that’s just the beginning. Each one is designed from scratch to your specs with the features you need and all the details that make your facility exactly right.
- Clear spans that exceed 300 feet allow any length and width without interior obstructions–big enough to cover a C5 or C17 on the ramp or accommodate any storage or warehouse needs
- Any style roof to any required height
- Any size or number of access points, door styles, etc. for vehicles, aircraft, and personnel
- Any options–mezzanine, offices, hanging loads, etc.
- Uninsulated, partially or fully insulated, and lined
Our buildings are military-tough, reliably strong and durable to stand up to local conditions, anywhere in the world. They are weather-proof where the environment presents everyday challenges–temperature extremes, wind, humidity or salty coastal air. They are rated (and proven) to withstand derecho winds, hurricanes, heavy snow loads, and seismic activity.
What makes Legacy buildings so different? Our solid steel framework provides maximum strength with greater durability than hollow-tube framing or web trusses. Our proprietary EpoxxiShieldTM suite of coatings provides dramatically better corrosion protection than hot-dip galvanizing in any environment, for longer life with minimal maintenance.
With their structural and functional advantages, our fabric buildings are a superior choice for remote, off-grid locations.
Our industry-leading ExxoTecTM fabric is exceptionally rugged yet flexible to fend off potential damage from impacts and abrasion. It is inherently inert to corrosion and fire-retardent (meets aviation and marine fire safety construction standards including Berry compliance if needed). It is installed as a seamless envelope impervious to moisture, dust, sand, etc.
It provides a better working environment:
- Thermally non-conductive–indoor temperatures remain warmer in winter and cooler in summer even in uninsulated buildings
- Naturally brighter interior–uninsulated white fabric admits enough daylight through the roof and walls to create a pleasant, energy-saving environment
- Stress-free acoustics–our fabric doesn’t reverberate or transmit weather-related noise, people inside don’t need to shout to be heard, even in very large facilities
- Passive ventilation keeps air fresh and prevents indoor condensation

Our fabric buildings offer a budget-friendly solution and can be installed quickly, ensuring troops have access to high-quality facilities without delay—an invaluable advantage. With fast construction, the benefits of durable fabric and framing, minimal maintenance, and a long lifespan, these buildings deliver lower operating costs and outstanding ROI over time.
RelocatableLegacy fabric buildings are engineered as permanent structures. However, thanks to the way we construct them, they can also be relocated (or expanded) if needed.
Low MaintenanceThe last thing any military unit or commander wants is building maintenance hassles that waste time and money. Our fabric buildings last many years and have little or no maintenance.
