What is Odor?

Webster’s New World Dictionary defines odor as “that characteristic of a substance which makes it perceptible to the sense of smell.” Odor, also known as smell or olfaction, is a crucial sense that allows humans to perceive and interpret the chemical compositions of their surroundings. It plays a fundamental role in daily life, influencing food preferences, social interactions, and even warning signals of potential dangers such as spoiled food or hazardous chemicals.
