AquaShield - Hurricane Sandy Disaster - Case Study
Reconstruction has begun on vital infrastructure along the Jersey Shore that was seriously damaged by Superstorm Sandy in 2012. The New Jersey Department of Transportation (NJDOT) has broken ground on a major $265 million project over the next 2 V2 years to totally reconstruct New Jersey Route 35 between mileposts 0.0 and 12.5 in Ocean County. Route 35 is the principal arterial roadway that connects a number of popular barrier island communities stretching from Point Pleasant Beach in the north to the entrance of Island Beach State Park in the south.
Significant stormwater drainage improvements are included in the Route 35 project. All of the new stormwater features must comply with stringent construction and water quality treatment standards established by NJDOT and the New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection (NJDEP). J. Kelly Williamson, President of AquaShield™, Inc. says, "We are honored that the Aqua-Swirl" Stormwater Treatment System was selected to protect the natural beauty and waterways of the Jersey Shore. This is more than just a large project, it`s a way for us to help the communities rebuild their homes and businesses to quickly get back to a normal way of life on the shore."
