Located at the Shanghai Chengtou Xupu Base, the project transforms a former transfer station into a smart, automated resource recovery center, combining intelligent collection, AI-powered sorting, and automated packaging and warehousing.

The facility is designed to handle:

  • 10 tons/day of mixed plastic bottles
  • 50 tons/day of waste paper
  • 1.5 tons/day of EPS foam

Equipment Supplied By JONO
To support the project’s operations, JONO provided a complete suite of intelligent recycling equipment, including:

  • One fully automated plastic sorting line
  • One automated waste paper processing line
  • One EPS foam crushing and cold pressing line
  • One automated baling and intelligent in/out warehousing line

These systems employ AI visual recognition and robotic automation to streamline every stage of the process—from detection and classification to baling and warehouse logistics.

Project Highlights

AI-Powered Sorting Technology: Plastics are automatically sorted into transparent PET, colored PET, white HDPE, colored HDPE, other plastics, and films, while paper is classified into cardboard, book paper, and newspaper.

Automated and Networked System: The entire process is digitized and seamlessly connected, significantly enhancing throughput, accuracy, and labor efficiency.

Enhanced Purity and Value: By improving material purity, the system maximizes the market value of recyclables, laying the foundation for high-value reuse and upcycling.

Sustainable Urban Infrastructure: By utilizing and upgrading the existing station, the project minimizes land usage and reduces construction-related carbon emissions.

Conclusion
The Shanghai Xupu Integration Hub stands as a landmark in smart recycling infrastructure, advancing municipal solid waste classification and promoting “two-network integration” — the synergy of domestic waste collection and renewable resource recycling. As a national demonstration project, it provides a scalable, replicable model for intelligent sorting and high-value recovery across China.
