Packed Filter Unit (PFU-Mini) - Red Dog Mine, Alaska, USA - Case Study
THE PROBLEM:
In 2020, Red Dog Mine reached out to PureAir Filtration for a solution to combat virus infection, specifically COVID-19. The facility is located about 100 miles inside the Arctic Circle, so it is closed for about eight months out of the year. Because of this issue, ensuring the cleanest-possible recirculation of air was a top-priority for the mine.
THE SOLUTION:
We provided a total of 53 PFU-Mini units equipped with Microbe-sorb Adorbent Media and FiberShield™ Antimicrobial Nylon Fabric for the job. Microbe-sorb Adsorbent Media has more than 12% permanganate in the proprietary formulation, which promotes a safe environment by killing pathogens and deactivating cold and flu causing viruses. Similarly, FiberShield™ kills over 99% of microbes it comes into contact with, including COVID-19. With the goal of eliminating virus infection, providing units that would recirculate and purify the air using antimicrobial technology was the perfect solution. PureAir is happy to report that after implementing the PFU-Minis with Microbe-sorb, HEPA, and FiberShield™ technologies, there has not been one reported case of transmission. Our field services staff worked seemlessly with their team to craft and implement viable solutions to achieve purified air.
