THE PROBLEM:

It can be difficult to confirm odor levels when digging deep. While time and preparation go into the design for a particular type of odor, there may be more present. Furthermore, it is important to know the surrounding geography. For this project, the deep tunneling for the Westside Subway Extension Project was near the La Brea Tar pits where the H2S levels were expected to be very high. Once drilling began, they experienced other noxious odors that needed to be removed from the air.

THE SOLUTION:

PureAir provided Westside with 641 PP12 modules equipped with our Sulphasorb XL™ adsorbent media for each system (3,846 PP12 modules total). The main odor the project was designed to tackle was hydrogen sulfide (H2S), but upon digging, VOC`s, mercaptans, and sulfur compounds were discovered as well. The air is now odor free and safe to breathe. The City of Los Angeles (Beverly Hills Area) continues to work with us today.
