Side Access Housing (SAH) - ATK Missile Systems Compan, Ohio, USA - Case Study
THE PROBLEM:
ATK Missile Systems Company in Ohio, USA designs and manufactures weapon systems and technologies for the defense industry. It`s especially well known for the development of the Patriot Missile. Manufacturing of aerospace and defense products often creates corrosive byproducts that can be harmful to people as well as valuable electronics. In this unique situation, the by-products were harmful to the health of those in continuous contact with the airstreams. ATK looked for a leader in gas phase filtration to ensure plant personnel were protected from any harmful gases in the air.
THE SOLUTION:
Looking for various industry solutions, ATK turned to PureAir to recommend a system to purify the corrosive and harmful air at the plant. PureAir Sales and Project Engineers reviewed the air quality, layout of the facility, and other factors to recommend the Side Access Housing Unit (SAH) with the following model details:
- SAH18-807-RBLWR
- Constructed of stainless steel with double wall insulation
- MERV 8 prefilter and MERV 13 final filter
- Stainless steel dual blowers to treat 45,873 CMH (27,000 CFM) of airflow
- PureAir AC-X and CPS Blend adsorbent media
ATK has had the system installed since 2011 and has prevented mission critical electronics from corroding, thus preventing costly maintenance and downtime.
