The Amafilter® Versis® Pressure Leaf Filter System significantly improved the liquid sugar process efficiencies of a sugar plant, reducing maintenance and improving profitability
THE CHALLENGE
The Amafilter® customer was dissatisfied with the quality of the liquid sugar produced during
their B-sugar campaign. They required an efficient filtration solution that would deliver
high quality liquid sugar that would meet the high standards expected by the Food &
Beverages industry.
THE SOLUTION
To ensure exceptional quality, the Amafilter® team recommended a two-step filtration
process:
Step 1
The first step involves two Versis® pressure leaf filter systems, each with a filter area of
40 m², utilizing perlite precoat and body aid to remove any solids present. One filter is actively operating while the other serves as a backup. This setup allows for a continuous filtration
capacity of 20 m³/h.
Step 2
The second step focuses on reducing colour through active carbon filtration. Similar to the first step, the Amafilter® team advised to
install another two Versis® pressure leaf filter systems, each with a filter area of 40 m². These pressure filter systems function in the same capacity, with one operating and the other on standby. The Versis® pressure leaf filter systems are equipped with dry cake discharge for a seamless operation and were the perfect filtration solution to meet the customer’s process requirements.
THE RESULT
The complete filtration solution included four Amafilter® Versis 1200-40/1810 pressure leaf filter systems with dry cake discharge in stainless steel, together with filter bags rated at 5 microns and cotton wound cartridges with a 1 micron rating.
The Versis® pressure leaf filter systems are fully automated and require minimum manual intervention and are designed to filter the finest particles and contaminants, delivering only the very best liquid sugar filtration.
