Moreover, by recycling plastic, 80% of the total energy to produce new plastic products is conserved. The production of plastic involves the use of petroleum and other fossil fuels. These fuels are not only scarce but also produce plastic in a way that is harmful to the environment. By recycling, we can reduce the amount of plastic produced and help the environment.
