Adiabatix’s story began when two professionals performing installation and maintenance in nuclear power plants observed how slow and difficult it was to dismantle insulation in any plant. Nuclear power plants have strict regulations on how long a person is allowed to work close to a reactor, in order to prevent them being exposed to excess radiation. That’s why the plants need either a lot of workers or a lot of breaks for their workers to ensure that the work is done according to the relevant safety regulations. The founders of Adiabatix realised that maintenance and installation could be carried out many times faster and with fewer workers if nuclear power plants had modular insulation structures which could be easily and quickly opened and closed. They began the process of developing such products with the aim of creating a solution that would allow maintenance to be performed in a fraction of the time and, what’s more, more safely for employees.
