Jet pumps are devices for conveying, mixing or compressing liquids and gases. They are used as single-stage and multi-stage suction pumps to generate vacuum in almost all processes in which process steps take place below atmospheric pressure. In most cases, the propellant is water or steam.
AEL - Steam Jet Vacuum Systems
Typical areas of application for multistage steam jet vacuum pumps are systems for rectification, evaporation, drying, sublimation, degassing, condensation, polymerization and deodorization. Two-stage systems are primarily used to vent turbine condensers. As with other types of pumps, the achievable compression ratio of back pressure to suction pressure is limited. When suction from a higher vacuum, the total compression ratio from the suction pressure to atmospheric pressure must be divided between several steam jet devices. The motive steam pressure and suction pressure are decisive for the number of stages.
