Stop Log Hoist
A single or double track monorail hoisting trolley used to handle upstream or downstream maintenance stop logs to isolate gates for service purposes. The stop log hoist is normally provided with a submersible stop log lifting beam equipped with automatic latching hooks and a release mechanism operable from the surface.
Intake Gate Hoist
A high capacity fixed hoist mounted on an autonomous structure upstream of the turbine penstock used to raise or lower the intake gate. The intake gate hoist is normally dedicated to one gate and is permanently attached to it, thus operating in a cold and damp environment.
Spillway Gate Hoist
A high capacity fixed hoist mounted on an autonomous structure serving the spillway of a water retention construction adjacent or remote from a power house. The spillway gate hoist is dedicated to one gate and is permanently attached to it, thus operating in a cold and damp environment.
Draft Tube Gantries
Monorail or Crane : The draft tube overhead handling equipment can be of a wide range of capacity depending on the year of construction of the power house and also depending if gates or stop logs are used as draft tube opening and closing doors. The draft tube overhead handling equipment can be required in an overhead crane configuration if it operates inside the power house or in a monorail or gantry if it operates from the outside of the power house. Typically if gates are handled, the monorail configuration will not be selected.
Gantries and Monorails for Stop Logs
COH specializes in the design, fabrication and installation of Gantries and Monorails for Stop Logs and Spillway Gates.Gantries and Monorails for Stop Logs are typically used for the handling of stop logs serving for protection against water flow upstream of gates. Gantries and Monorails for Stop Logs can also be used as draft tube protection. Stop log gantries or monorails service a whole series of sluices and are not permanently attached to one of them. When the equipment handles stop logs, it will normally be provided with a stop log lifting beam. The lifting beam allows the picking and releasing of the stop logs when submerged in water. The opening and releasing of the hooks provided on the stop log lifting beam can be manually operated or motorized.
Spiral Drum Link and Roller Chain Hoists
COH specializes in the design, fabrication and installation of Spiral Drum Link and Roller Chain Hoists. Spiral Drum Link and Roller Chain Hoists are typically used with Tainter or Radial, Pie shaped gates. Spiral Drum Link and Roller Chain Hoists can be used on spillways as control or emergency gates and are often mobile so that Spiral Drum Link and Roller Chain Hoists can be used for servicing many gates rather than just one.
Rack & Pinion Gate Lifters
COH specializes in the design, fabrication and installation of Rack & Pinion Gate Lifters. Rack and pinion gate or stop log lifters are used when a down pressure has to be applied on a device traveling in guides. The down pressure can be required because the device being pushed down is lighter than the opposing hydraulic forces, this situation might appear when using wood stop logs, when the guides are damaged and offer resistance to the smooth operation of a gate, or when hydraulic forces are greater than the weight of the gate. The lifter uses rugged steel rams to connect to the gate or stop log, the rams are fitted with heavy duty gear racks rolling up and down a single or multiple set of pinion(s) depending on the capacity requirement.
