Lineage

Founded in 1880, The Day Company, which eventually became Carter-Day Company, developed a systems approach to air pollution control, classifying, conveying and storing of materials across many disciplines.

In its 60 years of operation, among the many patented designs they brought to the market, the “RJ” filter eventually evolved to the “RF” technology used today.

In 1986, Howden Environmental Systems, Inc. acquired the filtration patent and technology from Carter-Day Company. Howden Environmental Systems, Inc. was part of a worldwide group of companies owned by Howden Group PLC based in Scotland. Howden’s objective was to use the industrial baghouse filtration activity as a launching platform from which to establish a presence in the U.S. utility baghouse market for fly-ash control.
In 1989, Texcel Filtration, Inc. acquired the assets of Howden Environmental Systems with a license to employ the “RF” technology.
In 1990, Air-Cure Environmental, Inc. acquired Texcel Filtration, Inc. and later became Air-Cure, Incorporated.
