Trusted for over 60 years, Air Diffusion Systems’ fine bubble aeration systems can reduce BOD, TSS, nitrogen, and phosphorus levels to single-digit concentrations at domestic & industrial wastewater treatment facilities.

Updating old wastewater lagoons to meet current NPDES effluent limits can be a daunting task for any municipality or industrial plant.  Many times, the cost of going to an entirely mechanical or activated sludge plant is not practical or feasible. The good news is that a properly retrofitted aerated-lagoon with fine bubble diffusers can achieve single digit BOD and TSS limits at a fraction of the cost compared with other treatment technologies.   

For close to 30 years, ADS has successfully incorporated “bio-augmentation” (sludge reduction) programs at hundreds of wastewater treatment facilities across the United States with great success.  In 2011, We teamed up with a local biotech company to derive a specific formulation of beneficial bacteria and trace nutrients for reducing Fats, Oils, Grease, & Sludge (FOGS).  We named it “Sludge Reducing Bacteria” (SRB) because of how effective it was at naturally digesting accumulated organics.  

Just as human beings need oxygen to live, so do many members of a healthy aquatic ecosystem.  Most beneficial microorganisms and higher life forms require elevated bottom dissolved oxygen levels, to survive and convert accumulated organics and minerals into biomass, which can then be consumed by even higher life forms.

Many of the problems associated with eutrophic lakes and ponds stem from poor circulation, a deficiency in available oxygen, and an excessive build-up of nutrients.  Eutrophic lakes and ponds are significantly more likely to develop algae including, Harmful Algal Blooms (HAB’s)

ADS air sparging is an in-situ treatment technology for injecting atmospheric air, ozone, or liquids below ground into contaminated soils and groundwater. Air sparging & fluid delivery are very useful in reducing concentrations of volatile organic compounds (VOCs) which are absorbed in soils or dissolved in groundwater.

Ice formation can cause structural damage to moored boats, pilings, retaining walls, docks, or entire marinas.  In cold climates, bottom lake water continually absorbs heat from the earth below, keeping it well above freezing. Unfortunately, this warmer bottom water is thermally stratified, due to density and temperature differences. ADS ice melting aeration circulates this slightly warmer bottom water to the surface, melting ice or preventing its formation in the first place.
