About Us
Aquatic Control Engineering Ltd (ACE), formed in September 1995, was established to provide the latest Dutch Water Flow Control Innovations into the UK and Irish marketplace. These products were manufactured at KWT, Holland using High Density Polyethylene (HDPE), a plastic which is less expensive, more lightweight and robust than common materials such as cast iron and timber. Today this material is a proven and widely adopted concept in water flow control devices yet the reputation of ACE as the market innovator has remained. Investing heavily into research, design and development ACE providing a holistic solution to water flow control projects throughout the UK and have become market leaders in this area. In addition ACE now represent a large product range including Bosman Wind Pumps, Berkenheger, Habbig, WaStop Check Valves and ACE's own Slide Flood Barriers as master distributors for the UK/Ireland.
For 15 years business has been increasing and our team has grown to include an established range of services from design, project management, early contractor involvement, installation, commissioning and much much more. Our large and loyal customer base rely on ACE for repeated high standards of installation on time and to schedule.
But We Haven't Stopped There!
Five years ago the increasing effect of the EU Water Framework Directive meant that our structures needed to carefully consider the impact on the migration of Eels, Elvers and coarse fish species including Salmonids. Providing the two elements as a package has allowed ACE to provide more cost effective solutions to its customers and to help with the balance of ecological and environmental benefit over risk from flooding and commercial need. We currently have staff training with fisheries experts for recognised qualifications in this field and an Environmental Scientist who work closely with Universities, nature groups and charities to continue efforts in water flow control product development with minimal environmental impact. ACE are proud to now represent FishFlow Innovations in Holland in addition to our UK designed and manufactured fish and elver pass range.

Since ACE’s formation, the company has established a well known and proven product range. Originally pioneering Dutch-manufactured water flow control equipment (such as penstocks and flapvalves) manufactured in HDPE and Stainless Steel 316. The equipment was developed as an alternative to traditionally used Cast Iron and Timber products. The aim is to reduce maintenance, improve safety during installation and increase operational efficiency. Our core range of Penstocks and Non-return valves has now become the norm throughout the UK. This has lead to additions to our portfolio such as other water level management equipment, fish friendly products and pump technology along with a suite of site services.
For over 2 decades, ACE have collaborated with our customers, increasing our dedicated team in numbers to provide tailored packages both large and small. We still offer a friendly, personal service, but have the capability to carry out turnkey projects. This includes bespoke design, installation using our full-time site team and project management (including full CDM co-ordination).
To ensure optimum performance of many of our installed structures, we also have a long-standing range of Waterway Maintenance equipment. Ensuring vegetation debris is cleared from watercourses and riverbanks. This includes floating plant such as weed boats and weed harvesters, long reach machines including the Berky Trac and Hooby, and tree grip cutters and hedge clearing equipment.
