Environmental Services - Contaminated Land
Brown Field Development
From initial desk studies through to ground investigations and analysis, IKM provide appropriate risk assessments, recommend and design remedial measures, and supervise and validate site clean-up operations.
Groundwater & Soil Gas Monitoring
Our environmental team has a vast experience of working on groundwater projects of varying complexity. IKM have six qualified and experienced geologists on their staff. All field staff are trained in state-of-the-art water sampling using in-line flow cells and a variety of field equipment including interface probes.
Health & Safety Issues
IKM are experienced in the assessment of risk for a wide variety of circumstances. Site risk assessments, method statements and risk management plans are prepared for all significant works. The plans identify risks and hazards, plan working methods and prepare strategies for dealing with any emergencies or accidents. As much of IKM`s work is carried out within permit to work facilities, our staff are extremely well trained. We also employ a Qualified Environmental Hazard Assessment Manager, who holds the NEBOSH National Certificate and CDM construction, safety and health qualifications.Oil Spill Response
IKM operate an oil spill response service which is designed to provide office-based and emergency on-site advice in the event of a hydrocarbon spill. Our Managing Director, Ian MacLachlan, was trained at OSEL Southampton and has provided emergency response and direction for both onshore and offshore oil / product spills. IKM co-ordinated and managed occupational health monitoring, liaison with SEPA / EA, delineation, cleanup levels and remediation / disposal
Environmental Services - Environmental Assessment
Environmental & Due Diligence Audits
IKM have undertaken environmental compliance audits for clients on numerous projects, within the steel, petrochemical, waste, railway and property industries. Recent projects have required programmes of environmental audits to ensure compliance with project specific management plans as well as relevant environmental legislation. IKM have also played a major environmental co-ordination role on several of Scotlands largest and most recent rail projects. Other clients have required Environmental and Due Diligence audits to identify environmental liabilities associated with the purchase and potential redevelopment of brownfield sites.
Noise & Vibration Monitoring
IKM have developed practical and efficient skills in undertaking noise and vibration impact assessments for various types of construction projects. The assessments are used to determine the potential impact of proposed construction or commercial projects on both local residents and building structures. Our experience in this area extends to waste management sites, railways, roads, factories, petrochemical complexes and city centre development sites, often we undertake noise assessments to satisfy IPPC permit or planning conditions.
