Astro Engineering & Manufacturing was established in Minnesota in 1987, to provide industries with high-end metal fabrication products and services they could rely on. The company came under the current ownership of George and Sue Ross in 2005, and since then has expanded and flourished to become a leading metal fabrication provider in the country. Sue Ross is the CEO and co-owner of Astro. She oversees the strategy and direction of the business, CFO responsibilities, manages HR, marketing, the safety program, insurance and legal needs, and general business operations.
George Ross is a company owner and a talented mechanical engineer specializing in machine design. He leads the Screw Conveyors and Food Processing Division and is the solver of all mechanical problems. He delights one customer after another with his innovative and specialized designs.
Chris Rock is our seasoned and energetic head of the Architectural Division. He has been with Astro since 2011 and has greatly expanded our capacity to providing railings and other architectural metal components for commercial construction. He works closely with contractors, architects, and installers to get the right product at the right place at the right time.
Dustin Bryan is a mechanical engineering graduate from South Dakota State. Dustin joined Astro in 2014 with a wealth of experience and is doing a great job working with screw conveyors clients and contract manufacturing for OEM’s.
Tony Ross is our manufacturing engineer overseeing production and efficient operations. Tony has his hands in all shop operations and works diligently to make sure all projects are done efficiently and with the highest quality standards. He earned his industrial engineering degree from North Dakota State University and has worked at Astro in production through high school and college.
Dave Lundberg is our on-site drafter, drafting nearly exclusively in both SolidWorks and Tekla. Dave handles the mechanical work for screw conveyors, railing, and architectural work, and also does the on-site field measuring and works with outside drafters when we outsource overload work.
Arlene Schmitz is our office manager, taking care of our bookkeeping, accounts receivable and payable, and other administrative duties. Arlene also oversees the shipping and receiving department. She is the one who most often answers the phone and will get you to the person or the information you need.
On the shop floor we have about 20 fabricators working in our 30,000 sq. ft. facility. Astro employs about 10 highly skilled welders who TIG and MIG weld on aluminum, stainless steel, and carbon steel in a variety of thicknesses. Also on staff is a machinist, metal forming specialist, punch, laser, and saw operators, and production workers. We have a talented and dedicated group.
